Our History
During the winter of 2003 approximately 20 local archers from Southeast Nebraska and Northeast Kansas wanted to
form an archery club and find place to have an archery range. Looking for a home they found the LBB NRD watershed
lake located south and west of Wymore, NE. A central location for their needs with available area to locate an archery
range. Scott Sobotka of the NRD knew of the grant program funded by the Pitman-Robertson Act administered
by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. A course was designed, applications and budget for the grant began.
In January 2004 a year later the second meeting of the newly formed Big Indian Archers was held and the work began just
a few days later. On September 12, 2004 the Grand Opening of the Big Indian Public Archery Range and Nature Walk
Trail was held at the range.
